Personal Development

Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence

Low-self esteem can develop in childhood when the adults in our lives are harsh or we've been abused.  It can be carried into adulthood and effect the relationship or careers we choose.  When low self-esteem develops as an adult, it can be due to a relationship failing or a job loss.  Some common feelings of low self-esteem/confidence include not feeling good enough for others, feeling awkward, shameful, chronically indecisive, or negative thought patterns.  Becoming aware of and learning where these patterns began is the first step to feeling better.

Phase of Life Changes

Big life events such as getting married, a new baby, divorce, beginning college, a new career, or retirement, the kids moving out, or the loss of a spouse are emotional and trying times in anyone's life.  Through these tough times it is often when we learn the most about ourselves and grow into the person we were meant to become.  Individual counseling can help you understand how to process these events and move forward with your life.
